France withdrew from the contest out of respect to French President Georges Pompidou who died the week of the Eurovision Song Contest (and whose funeral happened the day of the Finale) Dani was given a second chance to participate in 1975 but her song “Comme un boomerang”, written by Serge Gainsbourg, was judged too controversial for the ESC :/

It’s the Eurovision Song Contest week! I know the Frenchs don’t care about that show (we haven’t won in a very long time.. actually we haven’t even made it in the top 5 since 2002…) but personally I like it, it’s kitsch and funny and always make a great night. So especially this week, I’ll post two songs a day and yes, only Eurovision French entries :)
